Poetic Musings of Society and Other Really Great Stuff!
Earlier last year my parents were victims of identity theft. They had some mail stolen from their mailbox. They know for sure that they had checks stolen as well as some credit cards. Since then the amount of time and energy it has taken to resolve this has been massive!
For starters the police were helpful to a point but they are not able to just go out and arrest someone, they have to get enough “dirt” on them so whatever charges actually stick. It took awhile to amass enough information about the culprit and eventually he was put away - behind bars…
Since then they have put some precautions in place to ensure that this does not happen again the future. Trust me, experiencing credit fraud is something you only want to do once, if ever!
They now use services that help protect their credit and also provide some protection for any damages if their credit or identity does get stolen again! This has given them much peace of mind…
Since they are getting closer to retirement they really don’t have the desire to mess with calling banks and credit card companies constantly to take care of all the fraudulent activity caused by credit fraud - it really took a toll on them.
Hopefully now they can just live their lives and not have to worry about some scoundrel trying to swindle them out of their money and life savings! One resource they have used extensively are sites like identitytheft.com and wikipedia.com. Both sites have provided really good information on identity theft.
